Our distinct flavors were born from techniques and traditions that have been cultivated from over 100 years of experience in the production of alcohol, and to this day, these flavors are still loved and fondly enjoyed by many.However, it has been our belief that it is important to not just rely on traditional techniques alone.With that in mind, in 2018, we established the SAKURAO DISTILLERY, a craft distillery in Hiroshima, to challenge new possibilities in the production of Western liquors.We have been driven to the challenge of producing a product that will grab the world’s attention for no other reason than it’s in our DNA to endlessly pursue innovation.This spirit of innovation from tradition brought us to where we are, and it will continue our story for the next 100 years.We hope that you are looking forward to the new and innovative flavors that SAKURAO DISTILLERY will develop in the future.

Today, these sake are also exported overseas to Asia, Europe and the U.S., as well as they are distributed in Japan.Kamoizumi rice wine is brewed without relying on carbon filtration to maintain the flavor of sake, and loved as golden-colored sake with mellow and rich taste.

Since long ago, Koizumi Honten has been making sake as the sake brewery of the Itsukushima Shrine on the island of Miyajima, which is said to be one of the three most scenic places in Japan. Expressing his thoughts on the proper place for Japanese sake, Kenichi Yoshida said, Sake would hate to depart from its native land. Koizumi Honten aims to produce sake deeply rooted in the climate of Hiroshima.

Since founded in 1865, we have brewed tasty sharp typical Hiroshima sake maintaining the traditional brewing process. We only use nongenetically-modified rice made in Hiroshima prefecture to brew unique healthy safe sake. We started making plum wine using sake in 2007 and have added lemon and kabosu (a sort of citrus) wine. These low-alcohol products are light and quaffable and appreciated by both men and women.

It has long been said that vinegar and plums are good for one’s health. On the basis that the citric acid contained in these foodstuffs has beneficial effects on health, through joint efforts with the Iwakuni Research Institute of Nippon Paper Chemicals Industries Co., Ltd., Nihon Kosen developed a vinegar-based health drink, La Vamont, in 1981, which has been favorably received nationwide ever since it was launched. Nihon Kosen’s wish is the health of everyone in Japan.
